2001 Census ethnic group — KS006
Office for National Statistics via Nomis
Official source →Method and retained evidence

In England and Wales, Chinese moved from Chinese/Other in 2001 to Asian in 2011; mixed categories and later write-in categories also changed. No change is calculated across these categories.

How the evidence is used
Do not sum a direct county record and its member district records.
Every lower-tier authority belongs to exactly one county/equivalent edition.
Country comparators use direct official country totals with matching definitions and dates.
Do not average percentages, prices or rents across member councils.
A metropolitan county, ceremonial county or combined authority is not interchangeable with its current councils.
Boundary vintage is attached to every authority and ward; historical series need compatible definitions or explicit breaks.
Scottish Census 2022 and recorded crime are separate systems; do not invent Police.uk ward data.
Existing city hostnames and brands remain intact; a distinct area slug resolves collisions.
Geography-checked does not certify data, council project reviews, branding or publication.
County editions use current upper-tier or equivalent council footprints from the reviewed registry, not historic/ceremonial counties.
Each lower-tier authority and ward is stored once. Upper-tier counties link to constituent districts; they never duplicate ward arrays or include independent unitary authorities.
Published official county estimates are used directly. Derived percentages require complete matching numerators and denominators; prices, medians and district percentages are never averaged.
Country references are actual published England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland totals, with incompatible definitions kept separate.
Retained snapshots keep original observation and request dates; reuse and a new build date do not prove freshness.
Police publication issues suppress dependent totals and changes. Scottish recorded crime is separate from mapped Police.uk records.
Source checking and automated tests are not independent analytical assurance or AQuA certification.
Local plans and projects are selected reviewed examples, not an exhaustive council programme. Proposed actions are analysis, not approved funding or promised delivery dates.
The county/equivalent area, its member councils and wards are separate levels. A direct county total is never added to its own districts.
Statistical records retain their original retrieval dates. A new website release does not mean every source has been freshly collected.
Checks follow the government’s AQuA Book principles: define the question, retain sources, check calculations and explain uncertainty. Automated checks do not constitute independent assurance or certification.
The AQuA Book →Evidence version and coverage

census: Census 2021; current wards matched directly or reconstructed from official output areas.
crime: 34 wards; 24 retrieved archive months, 2024-09 to 2026-08.
crimePublication: No global no-crime-data or latest-month missing-crime notice was identified for this authority’s force in the checked changelog. This does not guarantee complete reporting.
crimeReporting: These are retrieved mapped records, not a guarantee of complete crime reporting. Approximate locations and unmapped incidents limit comparisons.
crimeTrend: No unresolved missing-crime notice or separately reviewed source break was identified within these requested months. This is not a guarantee of complete reporting.
employment: Five Census 2021 work measures. Residents aged 16+; not current labour-market rates. Pandemic-period results require care.
housePrice: 379 published monthly observations, 1995-01 to 2026-07.
housing: Official UKHPI home prices and private-rent estimates.
monthlyRent: 140 monthly observations; latest 2026-08.
population: 30 of 30 requested annual observations available; latest 2025.
wards: All 34 current official wards included.
These are selected council-sourced projects, not the whole council programme.
The suggested action sequences are analysis, not approved budgets or delivery commitments.
Project locations have not been verified as ward impact footprints. Empty cost or funding fields mean no reviewed figure, not zero.

Checked 2026-10-17. Global no-crime-data notices and missing latest-month crime reports suppress complete-period comparisons.
